Nouncrate (plural crates) Verbto crate (third-person singular simple present crates, present participle crating, simple past and past participle crated)
AnagramsFrom Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A crate is a large shipping container, often made of wood, often used to transport large, heavy or awkward items. A crate has a self-supporting structure, with or without sheathing. For a container to be a crate, all six of its sides must be put in place to result in the rated strength of the container. Steel and aluminum crates are also used. Plastic crates are commonly used for shipment of bottles. Wooden cratesBoxes and crates are often confused with one another; mostly when they are made of wood. Contrary to a crate, the strength of a wooden box is rated based on the weight it can carry before the cap (top, ends, and sides) is installed. HistoryThe first documented writings in the US about shipping crates is in a 1930 handbook (Technical Bulletin No. 171) written by C. A. Plaskett for the US Department of Agriculture although his writing imply that crates were defined before that time. C. A. Plaskett was known for his extensive testing and defining of various components of transport packaging. From Wikipedia under the

Whenever I want to put him in the crate, he runs away from it, I have a nice blanket, a toy, I even try to treat him once he is inside, I've been doing this for a week now, but not sure if it is helping. Once he is in, he barks for 5 mts and then settles down. He has even started sleeping through the night in his crate. During day time, I spen 2-3 hours in the morning outside and then crate him for 3 hours, take himout for potty/pee and play and then crate him for 3 hours and repeat. Everytime, it is a struggle to get him to his crate. I am worried he is going to hate his crate. But he sleeps well in it during day and night. I even have a kong with cream cheese in it, he doesn't play/lick it inside, once I take him out,… [cont.] Asked by asking - Thu Sep 13 14:55:50 2007 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments A. puppies are like human babies they take a while to catch on to things. just give it time. good luck with your new puppy. :-) Answered by randomperson69 - Thu Sep 13 15:02:31 2007 How to get stray cat into a crate to be taken to vet? Q. We are taking our stray cat to the vet today for a check up so that she can start living in our house with our other animals. She is a sweet animal and I don't think she would ever hurt us, but I want to make sure I don't scare her by putting her in the crate too roughly. Any ideas on getting her in the crate? My cat has his scent all over it so maybe that'll make it easier for her? I don't want her to get angry with us. Thanks! Use simple green (or like) and a small amount of bleach, hose. as above poster stated, use food, soft words, and a tender touch and you should have great success. If not cooperative, turn crate upright, on lower end with open door closest to your waist ... get kitty off the ground by scruff of neck and lower into crate. good luck, mouse Answered by Mouse - Mon Jun 15 13:13:34 2009 How long until a puppy gets used to crate?
Q. I have a 9 week old puppy, and he has never been in a crate. Well he hates it in there and whines non stop. This is my first time ever using a crate for any dogs I have had. How long does it take until they get used to it? Also do wind up clocks really work when placed next to the puppy? I have heard so many stories of them working and soothing the puppy. It is not a mean thing ... wolves live in small caves/taverns ... just buy some big pillows( like couch pillows) and put them on the bottom ... then put a blanket on top of the crate... he will love it !!! Yes ur puppy is going to whine ... that's fine ... and yes u have to ignore it ... if u don't ... he will expect everything he wants... which is not good and can confuse .. " who is the alpha?" which can cause a dog to be aggressive... I use to have my pit sleep w/ me .. and i sooo regret it ... bcuz now he wants to sleep on the bed all the time ... this explains crate training ... and methods to help u get ur puppy familiar w/ the crate ( like put toys and treats in there or praise him… [cont.] Answered by Mz - Thu Oct 2 21:59:19 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "crate" Crate and Barrel to expand ties with Marimekko - Chicago Breaking Business - Tribune
