How long can a 3 month old puppy be crated overnight?
Q. We got a half-Bichon/half-Sheltie dog over the weekend and are learning about its potty habits still. She's very comfortable sleeping in a crate, but overnight, we leave the door open so it can go if it needs to. She seems to be paper trained from the pet store she came from (since its enclosure was covered in newspaper), but we're trying to outdoor train it. We think that having it go on newspaper (we have a little potty area in the den) is good overnight, but we know it will only set back the crate training too. Because it is so young, we're apprehensive to close the crate door for the full 8 hours we're asleep. I get up at 3AM to check on her, but she's already done her business. I am still adjusting my sleep to get her outside before… [cont.]

A. Eight hours is probably too long for the little gal to hold it. I'm not an animal trainer, but it seems like having a place for her to go inside as well as doing the outside training is a win-win situation. If you are ever away longer than expected, she has a place to go if she is in the house rather than ruining your carpet. You sound a little like a nervous mom. I remember when my kitties were babies, I checked on them and worried about them constantly. They're big ol' independent cats now and about as healthy and happy as they come. Your pup will be fine. Lots of love and consistent expectations should yield a wonderful companion.

How to I stop my dog from peeing inside? she is crated. we go for lots of walks but she still pees inside.?
Q. She is crated while I'm at work and does not have an accident. We'll go for a walk as soon as I come in and every hour after but she continues to have accidents inside the house. When we go for a walk she will pee a little bit. I've used the clicker and treats and carpet cleaner but I don't understand why she keeps having accidents. Am I doing something wrong? Should I be taking her to the vet?

A. It is possible your dog has a bladder infection & a trip to the vet will tell. Young dogs sometimes have trouble growing faster than their organs(people too) Older dogs may become incontinent & need diapers. Consider ruling out any medical issues & ask for tips if it's a training issue. At night, you may choose to remove the water dish or leave a little.There are also pee pads we use for little ones and elders. The area she has messed on needs to have all odors totally removed. One of the best products we have found is named "Get Serious"It does not stain carpeting either.

Ok on the 23rd I crated a yahoo email account for my mother?

Are yahoo selling lists of email addresses to this company? we didnt type the email address anywhere and it was simply to be used for the sending of photos. What is going on?

A. I don't think it is likely that yahoo is selling emails, a lot of spamming just involves trying to email every possible combinations of letters and numbers and waiting for the return receipt to pop up to see who is opening those emails, then they add them to a more permanent list.
